For health. For the planet. Forever.
Our skincare is made with intention. Every decision is guided by a lens of ethics, health and sustainability—from start to finish. From raw ingredients to final packaging, we’re meticulous about what goes into (and stays out of) Syll.
We hold ourselves to a higher standard—because your body and our planet deserve nothing less.
SOURCING PRINCIPLES

Beyond Natural Our products are naturally based, cruelty-free, non-GMO, and vegan. We also seek out organic, regeneratively grown, upcycled, zero-waste, and fair trade ingredients.
We deep dive into even natural ingredients, because many need to be sourced with particular care (e.g. sugarcane, coconut, shea, mica, palm, essential oils, minerals). Others, like royal jelly, are always unethical to use.
Science-Backed, Sustainably Aligned We use clinically studied actives that are sourced from natural, green chemistry, and sustainable biotech origins (like fermentation, enzyme reactions, and supercritical CO₂ extraction) — chosen for their quality, safety, and lower environmental footprint.
Biodegradable Our products do not contain ingredients that persist in the environment, such as synthetic polymers, silicones, and EDTA. Because biodegradable options are by far best for long-term ecosystem health.
No Ethoxylates Ethylene oxide is a hazardous substance used in the manufacturing process of skincare ingredients. Ethoxylation produces the carcinogen 1, 4 dioxane, which manufacturers remove from the end ingredient, but can be remain as residue. The process of ethoxylation and it's byproducts are also toxic to workers and aquatic ecosystems.
Common ethoxylates include: PEGs, PPGs, phenoxyethanol, sodium laureth sulfate, and many ingredients with "-eth" in the name.
Replace Petrochemicals Petrochemical-derived ingredients are incredibly widespread in skincare — not all pose health risks, but many have environmental consequences and rely on unsustainable fossil fuel extraction. You’ll often see them in the form of phthalates, parabens, mineral oil, paraffin, emulsifying waxes, polysorbates, petroleum jelly, polyquats, microplastics, PEGs, and PPGs.
We actively seek out bio-based alternatives to petrochemical ingredients and advocate for more sustainable sourcing throughout our supply chain.
REPRODUCTIVE & SENSITIVE SKIN SAFETY
Knowing what’s truly safe during pregnancy is....complicated. Without universal standards for “reproductive safe skincare", there is a lot of noise, misinformation, and guesswork.
When it comes to sensitive skin, there are also no common standards that ensure a product is appropriate. Plus, there are more people than ever who struggle with skin reactivity.
What we do know is: pregnancy and sensitive skin go hand-in-hand. So Syll designs skincare for all life stages and skin types — without compromising on effectiveness. This philosophy began with our founder’s first pregnancy—and it still guides everything we do. Read on for how and why we do it.

Less & Loving it
Using less skincare is both practical and sustainable!
Our goal is to help people minimize their exposure to undesirable chemicals and skin reactivity from too many products —all while helping to reduce consumption and produce less waste waste by eliminating unnecessary steps.
Syll's unique formulation design minimizes the number of products needed to create an efficacious, beautiful and effortless skincare routine.

Results without Irritation
During pregnancy and as hormones fluctuate postpartum or later in life, skin can be more sensitive to pretty much everything, e.g. sunlight, strong actives, added fragrance, and some preservatives or cleansing agents.
We mitigate the likelihood of irritation by formulating only non-photosensitizing products. In particular, we seek out actives with clinical studies backing up both their efficacy and appropriateness for sensitive skin.
Bonus! This means all of our products can be used day and night; no more confusing AM/PM protocols needed.

Care-full
In addition to our strict sourcing standards, we avoid ingredients that may raise concerns for reproductive safety or sensitive skin. This includes: no retinoids, certain skin lighteners (e.g. hydroquinone or arbutin), formaldehydes, strong hydroxy acids, added fragrance, artificial colors, ethanolamines (like TEA, DEA, MEA) and more.
